My niece adopted the most magnificent children who just happened to have been born in Korea. We adopted this recipe as one of our favorites along with the children. For Stephen & Kate.
2 1/2 pounds of beef – flank steak
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup white sugar
1/4 cup dark sesame oil
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/2 tbsp. chopped garlic
Mix all together in a large bowl and marinate at least overnight. Grill.
Traditionally the meat is sliced and marinated, then grilled on an indoor grill as you eat it. I don’t have anything like this so for ease we marinate the meat whole, grill it whole and slice it after.
Serve with white rice, lettuce and red pepper paste sauce. Wrap some rice, meat and pepper paste in a large lettuce leaf and roll up.
This marinade is wonderfully versatile, it works great on chicken and tofu!
