Cherry Squares

1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 Tbsp. lemon extract
2 cups sifted flour

Cream butter and sugar. Then add eggs, one at a time. Add extract then gradually add the flour. Beat for at least 4 minutes.

Grease and flour a 1 inch high cookie sheet.

Spread the batter in the cookie sheet and mark out squares.

Using cherry pie filling (or blueberry) place about 3 cherries in the center of each square.

Bake 350° for 30 minutes. Cut while hot. Cool completely and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
