Whipped Cream Icing / Crisco Icing

4 Tablespoons flour
1 cup milk

1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 cup butter
2 teaspoons vanilla

Cook milk and flour until thickened, whisking to avoid lumps. Cool completely – really.

Cream sugar, Crisco and butter for 4-6 minutes in a mixer. Do not skimp on the time. Add cooked milk/flour mixture and cream beat for an additional 4 minutes. Add vanilla and mix well.
